All District Reads

All District Reads, a non-profit organization, partners with schools to encourage reading aloud with children. All District Reads engages the entire school division to involve elementary school students and their families.  Northampton County completed two books this school year, “The World According to Humphrey” and “Friendship According to Humphrey”. Both books, written by Betty G. Birney, follow the adventures of a loveable hamster named Humphrey.  Children and parents/caregivers read these books aloud in their homes. Many community members recorded chapters to make the books available in audio form. Recordings in English and Spanish were added to the NCPS website each day for families to enjoy.  Northampton County schools partnered with All District Reads this past year to promote literacy with $3,000.
